Indonesia - June 09

Epic mid winter get away from a cold, wet and windy wellington! My bro, Laura, Adam and me had an epic 3 weeks mishing through indo on motorbikes surfing some fun waves. We landed in Denpasar, stayed in Kuta for the night then spent the morning haggling the locals for a cheap deal on 3 weeks worth of motorcycle hire. All set we took off to Bingan to get some waves, then on to Nusa Lembongan, Lombok, Sumbawa, the Gilli's and back to the Bukit peninsula.

Pics taken from where we were staying........pretty handy!

Indo squatting munch.

Nusa Lembongan.

Epic feeds at a little joint Marcus and Laura had scoped out the previous year on Nusa Lembongan. Super good Mee Goreng! Starting to look more and more like and sian by the day!

The motorbikes we hired went the distance. We gave them death, taking them right down to Sambawa. When lying as flat as possible the speedo would be banging against the plastic at 110.

Peacing out on one of the public ferries. We caught one from Padang Bai (East Bali) to Lembar (West Lombok) then motorbiked overland to the eastern port in Lombok to take another ferry to Sumbawa.

I was Pretty stoked when we arrived at Yo-yos in Sumbawa. Pretty chilled and not to many people. Scored some fun waves there without all the crowds of Bali.

Sweet crib that we hired off a couple of Australian's that worked in the gold mine down the road. We had a pretty funny afternoon with the red neck miners. Every few weeks they did a thing called a 'hash run' . A 6 km or so track was cut through the bush and a small fluro tag was tied to the tree every 10 meters. We all meet at the designated starting point and raced to the finish where there was a ute with the tray full of ice and beer. They play all these drinking games while standing in a big circle, pretty crack up............ "why are we waiting slowly masturbating.....down down down down.......down down down down." haha.

The surf went flat in Sumbawa so we took off and headed for the Gilli islands. We stayed on Gili Trawangan. I managed to get my diving ticket when we were there which was interesting, I was a bit spaced out on some of the morning dives!

Back to Bukit Peninsula for the last few days of our mission. A big swell came through when we got there. Impossibles above and Ulu's above that.

Marcus and I checking out the monkey temple.

STOKED!
